How to Make your own Organic Raw Sugar Cubes! Guest POST.

Hello “A New Beginning” readers! I’m Ali from over at Ballpoint+pen. I thought I’d swing by and share a little sweet treat with you today! On Valentines Day, my husband and I went out to eat and I was inspired to make organic raw sugar cubes. The restaurant we went to made their own, and they were so pretty and earthy looking, so I thought I’d give it a try! It is so simple and there are so many fun additions you can add to really make them your own! So here it goes...

First measure out your sugar into a bowl. You can use white sugar, raw sugar, or really anything you want. A full batch would be 2 cups of sugar and then add 2 tbsp of warm water. I didn't want to make a whole lot so I cut the batch in half and did 1 cup of sugar to 1 tbsp of warm water and it worked well.

Mix your ingredients together well. You should end up with something close to the consistency of wet sand.

Then just pack the sugar into balls using your fingers. Some people will use mini cube trays but I wanted to go for a more rustic look. You don't want to apply to much pressure when packing it together or else they will just fall apart, so just be gentle. :)

Lay out your sugar cubes to dry. I let mine sit for about 1 hour. Once completely dry, you can gently pull them up and store them in an airtight container. I put a few in my favorite sugar bowl and admired them on my table.

If you really want to go crazy, you can use vanilla sugar (you can learn how to make that over on my blog), or add in other things such as cinnamon and spices. I actually used some vanilla sugar I had made previously and they turned out very well! Serve with coffee or tea, or package to give as a budget friendly gift!

Hope you enjoyed this little project! Let me know if you try it and what you think! I’d love to hear of any creative concoctions you come up with! Thanks for having me over to visit Justine!
